What does the future of nursing look like? Nursing is a major stabilizing factor in an otherwise ever changing and sometimes disruptive healthcare system. Nurses are here to stay. Nurses today are more educated, skilled, innovative, and adaptable than ever while never losing compassion and caring. The exponential expansion of advanced practice nurses provides a viable solution to increase access in primary care and underserved areas and to improve health outcomes for all patient populations. Nurses must continue to engage in scholarly activities such as research and quality improvement and advocacy to influence standards of care. The constant battle to elevate nursing is real, and everyone has a role to play.
